My birthday was way back on the first of July and I’m definitely not one of those people that love making my birthday all about me like planning 6000 birthday dinners and telling anyone and everyone who have ears that it’s my birthday..I’m definitely NOT one of those people BUT I knew I’d have an awesome birthday weekend with my best Shanghai friends and my little family so I made a #ddtv vlog! Haven’t made a vlog in a while and it was definitely one of the first ones that I’ve filmed in Shanghai (a.k.a. not a travel vlog) and hope to be filming more sooooon!
Birthday weekend all started on Friday June 30th when I went to meet up with Georgina, her sister Jess and their cousin Ava. We did a bit of shopping at the NikeLab store where I picked up my new Nike double strap sandals! Love them so much been wearing them loads and yes, they’re obviously SO comfy! We were feeling kinda hungry so headed over to Egg but stopped at PARAS Cafe and Poke Poke along the way for a sneaky poke bowl hahaha. You can watch it all go down in my vlog up there! Headed home to discover a huge palm plant in my living room from my bestfriends in Hong Kong!! LOVE IT SO MUCH. I moved it out onto my garden balcony and it’s so perfect hehe. That same night, after getting ready into outfit #2, we headed out to a birthday group dinner with my friends at Xixi Bistro! The food was soooo good!! It was really hard to capture cos it was pretty dark in there but any meal that started out with free haw flakes at the table is bound to be a good one. I highly recommend the Mapo Tofu with crispy stuff on top and also the Bolognese spring rolls were super good. My amazing friend Camden made me a cake too!! It was a lemon thyme cake and it was HUGE (four layers!!) so we had it for breakfast and snack for the next few days too lol. Thanks Camden and huge thanks to Jason for organizing and my friends for coming outtttt!

On my actual birthday (July 1st), we spent most of the morning watching Netflix, playing Mario Kart on Nintendo Switch or just general lazing about until we finally decided to pick our ass up and get lunch at 3pm just downstairs at a yum cha restaurant. It was the perfect chill morning/afternoon which then led to getting a little fancy dressed and heading out to Hyatt on The Bund for Peking duck at the Chinese restaurant!! I wore one of my favourite skirts ever: this Comme des Garçons micro pleated skirt. It’s kinda hard to tell the details in these shitty iPhone pics but you can catch a bit of details in my vlog (top of the post). Went easy with a plain black tee, comfy Zara flats and my birthday gift to myself: a Prada Velo nylon drawstring bag! Spotted this cute little pouch when we were in Paris and decided to treat myself (the Euro is super low right now too!!!) and no regrets cos I’ve used it almost everyday since getting it. I love it SO much. The Peking duck at the Hyatt was sooo gooood and is their signature dish but we also got the hot stone pot cod fish and really yummy dumplings too. SO GOOD and really quite affordable, a definite go-to restaurant to impress people who are visiting hehe.

On Sunday morning, we headed out to The Cannery for brunch with the Burnands! A little warm weather hanging out with Georgina, Arthur and Archibooooo where they all dressed in coordinating all white whilst me and Jason, always the goths, dressed in full black. An “early quick brunch” with the Burnands always turns into a 5 hour long deep discussion on life and goals scattered with gossip and lots and lots of eating while Archiboo just chews on Jason’s elbows hehehehe ♡♡♡
